Custom Framing
Wooden canvas floating frames
and
traditional glass picture/print frames
I know that framing can really contribute to the overall effect of a piece of artwork, and I take great pride in crafting frames that will help get that desired effect.
As an artist myself, I’m able to look at a piece with that artist’s eye to help make key choices that will make the frame compliment your piece of art.
I pride myself in quality, and take great care in selecting choice wood and grain patterns, cutting clean/precise miters, and reinforcing them with exposed splines for longevity and also that complimenting or contrasting pop of color that helps your piece shine!
Floating Frames
What are floating frames?
Floating frames make it look as if your art is floating within the frame, as they have a gap between the frame and the canvas. It adds depth and dimension to the piece, making it visually stand out in the room!

Walnut frame and maple splines with custom cut matting
This was a special one - it was a hand drawn piece of artwork of my customer’s grandfather’s old farm, and the wood used for both the frame and splines was actually from trees cut down on the property!

What makes my frames stand out from others?
Many cheaply made floating frames create a false floater by painting a black strainer to go in between the painting and the frame, giving only an illusion of that floating element, but that is visible upon inspection. In my frames, I create a real gap between the painting/frame, and attach the canvas from the back so there is a actual space between the two - creating a truly floating frame, not just the false illusion of one.
Quality
I create high quality frames with longevity in mind.
Whether I’ve created or acquired a special piece of artwork that has meaning to me and my home, the last thing I want to do is throw on a cheaply made, particle board frame that will wear and break apart, compromising the integrity of the artwork. My frames are made from all hardwoods, never wood-like substrates. They are held together with glue and strong joints, rather than cheap fasteners alone.
A miter joint is the two 45 degree cuts that go together to create a corner. On their own, these are a weak joint and are known to break apart with the seasonal expansion and contraction of the wood. That’s why I reinforce the corners with splines (thin strips of wood glued into the joint to enhance its strength).
Appearance
I strive to make key choices that will make the frame complement your art.
My frames are from all hardwoods of varying species, such as cherry, maple, walnut, and white oak, which all offer beautiful character. I take great care in selecting choice wood grains and patterns, leading to a uniform piece.
I reinforce the joints with splines of contrasting/complimenting species, which adds not only support, but also a pop of color that can really help your artwork stand out.
Customization
They are completely customizable to fit your unique needs - from size, thickness, wood type and spline colors, to matting, finish sheen and every detail in between.
And I’m here to help you with all of these decisions!
